Wow…Biggest upset ever??

It’s over. Division I-AA/Championship Division Appalachian State just beat the number 5 Michigan Wolverines on a last-second field goal, 34-32. After Mike Hart ran past the entire App State defense to give Michigan the lead, it looked like the cinderella story was not to be. Yet somehow the App State Mountaineers took the ball with time running down and kicked a game-winning field goal.

Is this the biggest upset in college football, ever? It’s quite possible. A top 20 team has never lost to a team from a lower division. Ever. Michigan was one of the favorites to win the Big Ten and many believed they had hopes for the national championship. They can kiss that second one goodbye.

This game will be talked about for a loooong time.

In other news, Virginia Tech struggled to a 17-7 win over ECU, and in the game I mentioned earlier, Colorado beat Colorado state 31-28 in overtime. That Colorado rivalry is never a letdown, but it never gets the media attention it deserves. I guess that’s what happens when the game isn’t broadcast on ESPN.

Wake Forest is already up 14-0 on Boston College, and there are some other fun games to check out in Missouri-Illinois and Notre Dame-Georgia Tech. And that’s not even counting a couple of sure-to-be-great matchups tonight.

How is it that college football always delivers? Amazing.

Back for more later.
