It must feel good to be back

Forget about some big college football games and the first weekend of the NFL season, the most important thing that happened this weekend was….Britney Spears’ performance at the MTV Video Music Awards.

If you haven’t seen this yet, please click on that link and watch the video so you can understand the pain I felt when I saw this and thought, “watching this is making me dumber.”  Isn’t there someone at MTV or in Britney’s camp who saw this performance being practiced and could have said, “This really should not be on TV.”  At the very least, you’d think there’d be someone that would have been smart enough to not kick off the show with this performance.  They could have teased viewers with the “highly-anticipated return of Britney” for the entire show, and then thrown this pile of crap on everyone at the end.  Half the viewing audience clicked off their televisions after seeing this.  The other half that kept watching promptly reached for whatever sharp object they could find and thrust it through their eyeballs.

Sports stuff to come later…

A co-worker sent me a YouTube video of some emo kid screaming about this performance. Easily one of most pathetic things I’ve seen in my life.

That’s Chris Crocker. I found the video literally painful to watch. My girlfriend kindly pointed out that he has long been posting video blogs. When she mentioned this, I realized I had seen other videos of Crocker many months ago, and at the time had found them incredibly difficult to watch also, because they were so terrible and obnoxious. Finding out that this was one and the same person was the icing on the cake.
Just go to YouTube and search Chris Crocker to see what I am talking about.
I would post more about him in a blog, but I don’t think he needs the attention. This seems like a big publicity stunt, and the media has fed right into it and made him wildly popular. I don’t feel the need to feed his cries for attention.
